Reading/ Writing Workshop
Students will continue work in the Reading and Writing Workshops. In Reading Workshop, students will be reading the poetry of Shel Silverstein, Mary Ann Hoberman, and J. Patrick Lewis. They will study the tools of these famous poets such as simile, alliteration, and personification. In Writing Workshop, students will return to writing in their nature journals, making detailed observations and labeling diagrams of specimens observed in nature.
Vocabulary:
expression- a look on someone's face that shows what he/she is thinking or feeling
mascot – an animal or toy, or a person dressed as an animal, that represents a team or organization, and is thought to bring them good luck
impulsive– someone who is impulsive does things without considering the possible dangers or problems
mischievous – someone who is mischievous likes to have fun, especially by playing tricks on people or doing things to annoy or embarrass them
quest- a search to find something that is needed or wanted
quarrel – an angry argument or disagreement
entomologist – scientist that specializes in the study of insects
arthropod – arthropods are animals with segmented bodies and six or more jointed legs. Some of the most familiar arthropods are butterflies, beetles, flies, ants, bees, spiders, scorpions, shrimp, and crabs.
