E-Day, a tuition based after school program at Imagine ECS, provides a safe and fun place for many of our students to finish their school day while their parents finish their workday. E-day cares for ECS students of all ages throughout the week with a dedicated staff that brings their unique talents and love for the environment to the program to enrich the experience for the children.
Each week the E-Day team researches a topic and provides an environmental theme to craft the lesson plans around which includes hands on environmental education projects held both inside the school and out in the field. Art classes, using a variety of mediums including hard to recycle items, and board games and puzzles to reinforce teamwork and good sportsmanship. In addition to these weekly activities the kindergarteners have daily playtime or when the weather allows a nature hike, while the older students attend a homework lab to get a head start on their nightly assignments and everyone enjoys the weekly movie day showing G rated films. The day is wrapped up by playtime in the gymnasium or outside, which every child needs after a full day at school. The E-Day staff is dedicated to reflecting the school’s mission by following the standards and goals established by Imagine Environmental Charter School.
Testimonial
When our daughter was ready to enter kindergarten my husband and I realized that we would not just be choosing a school for her, we would also need to find extended day services. We knew that we wanted our daughter to be part of a program that was more than a babysitting service and the E-day program at ECS has far exceeded our expectations. While the E-day program does provide the usual homework help, snacks, and free play found at many after care programs, they also work to incorporate the environmental goals of the school into the program. The dedicated, professional, caring and knowledgeable staff at E-day work hard everyday to make learning fun for the students as they encourage them to explore the environment. During the past few months our daughter has planted seeds, participated in recycle relays, composted with worms, created masterpieces with repurposed items, and grown to love and respect the Earth. Often when my husband or I arrive to pick up our daughter she greets us with a smile and then she asks why we came so early; she’s not finished “playing”. And, to us, that says it all.
